This new coaching program is designed for anyone who wants to serve as an internal coach, including HR professionals and organizational leaders. The 3-day program is followed by a one-day follow-up practicum/supervisory session that reinforces learning and the application of new skills. Launched in 2007, the course has received rave reviews and can be customized.
Teaching Leaders to Coach is an action-oriented learning lab where participants gain insights into coaching models and practices, enhance and develop skills specific to the coaching process, learn to use a variety of coaching tools, and practice within a supportive framework of colleagues and experienced facilitators/coaches.
Coaching, both from external and internal coaches, has become an important business strategy to improve performance and maximize human resources. Coaching can help individuals and teams respond effectively to work demands while removing barriers to optimum performance. The bottom-line impact is considerable. Research studies cite examples of ROI from coaching that includes a 53% improvement in productivity, 48% improvement in quality, 48% in organizational strength, and 39% in customer service. One study estimated that for every dollar invested in coaching, the organization realized $5.70 in improved results.
Through the Teaching Leaders to Coach program, participants will:
- Define coaching, and understand the difference between coaching and managing, leading, and/or problem-solving
- Identify and examine typical coaching issues inside their organization
- Identify their own potential opportunities to coach within the organization
- Master the basic coaching skills of relationship building, contracting, assessment, feedback, coaching conversations and action/development planning
- Practice coaching skills with other participants in a safe learning environment
- Develop and implement a coaching learning contract and coaching log
- Complete a practicum experience involving real-time individual and team coaching
- Have an opportunity to be coached by an experienced executive coach
